Psychiatry Service Staff Physicians provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Psychiatric Medicine. In addition to patient care, the psychiatrist may have responsibilities in other areas, such as educational and research. The Physician is responsible for providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings, identifying patients' mental and medical health problems and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs. Responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting patient care and providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient's care, patient's illnesses and its management. The position may require providing care through tele-health services and also may require performing compensation and pension exams as demands dictate. The care provided is to comply with clinical practice guidelines as measured by the External Peer Review Program and the Clinical Reminder reports. The staff physician is responsible for teaching house staff, medical students and other health professionals during ward rounds, clinics and in conferences and providing supervisory control and professional direction. As required, he/she will provide consultations throughout the medical center, compensation and pension examinations, and tele-mental health assessments and treatment. As required, will cover other duties as assigned to include holidays, weekends, evening hours.
