We are recruiting for an Academic Ophthalmologist (Glaucoma) at the Syracuse, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Requires fellowship training in glaucoma. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. You will provide pre-operative and post-operative ophthalmology services including hospital rounds for surgical patients; perform and supervise ophthalmic surgery including laser procedures in both the OR and in the eye clinic; conduct weekly outpatient clinics; provide non-operative ophthalmology hospital rounds for ophthalmology patients; document services through appropriate notes, such as history and physical, progress notes, operative notes and discharge summaries; critique morbidity and mortality information and documentation as needed; educate residents and medical students in the principles and therapy of complex basic ophthalmology surgery and services; provide a full range of glaucoma specialty services in both the outpatient clinic and in the OR. You may participate in clinical research protocols, either develop locally or in conjunction with the academic affiliate. Alternate on-call coverage with other VAMC staff, ophthalmology surgeons and outside providers.
