The VA Northern California Health Care System is currently recruiting for a full-time, board eligible/board certified Psychiatrist in the Outpatient Behavioral Health Services. The Psychiatrist conducts history, physical exams and mental status exams; completes assessments and formulates diagnosis; develops treatment plans; and orders labs and/or radiological assessments for a wide variety of mental disorders, through a multidisciplinary team approach.   The psychiatrist is responsible for the medication management for patients as indicated in the treatment plan as well as facilitation of medication support groups, evaluating and providing medical clearance for patients presenting to the clinic who may need psychiatric hospitalization, and assessment and intervention for patients presenting in crisis. There is no on-call responsibilities at this rural clinic.

The Psychiatrist trains and supervises trainees including medical students and residents; and instructs personnel assigned to health care team on preventative medicine programs and other appropriate medical activities and functions.

Candidates must be BP/BC and US citizens.
