The VA Maryland Health Care System, centered at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a Chief of Dermatology. The Dermatology Section is comprised of 8 full-time and part-time dermatologists providing general dermatology, surgical dermatology, teledermatology, and Mohs micrographic surgery services to Veterans residing within the greater Baltimore metropolitan area, regions of central and northeast Maryland, and the Maryland Eastern Shore. The Department is affiliated with the University of Maryland School Of Medicine (UMSOM), dermatology residents and medical students from this academic affiliated university, rotate through the VA Medical Center dermatology clinics and are supervised by VA Dermatologists.
Ideal Candidate: American Board of Dermatology-certified Dermatologist with a strong interest in providing leadership and strategic direction, while maintaining a robust resident educational program at the Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC). Although principally based at the Baltimore VAMC, the Chief of Dermatology has the opportunity to hold a part-time appointment at UMSOM and participate in clinical and educational activities of the Department of Dermatology on a fractional basis.
Possess the qualifications for a faculty appointment in the Department of Dermatology, UMSOM, and be interested in working cooperatively with UMSOM dermatology leadership to maintain a vigorous collaboration to meet joint clinical, educational, and research objectives. Dermatologists with research interests or an active basic or clinical research program are encouraged to apply, since the Chief of Dermatology will be eligible to apply competitively for research funding through the VA Merit Award mechanism.
Full and unrestricted MD/DO license (from any state)
Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, committed to Dermatological care, residents, student education; research and have a focus on process improvement.
