The Cleveland Clinic Department of General Surgery is seeking Staff Surgeon candidates to join our growing Section of Acute Care Surgery and Trauma. The Acute Care Surgery and Trauma Section practices at three Cleveland Clinic locations listed below.
1) Akron General Hospital - Level 1 Trauma Center
2) Hillcrest Hospital - Level 2 Trauma Center
3) Main Campus Surgical Intensive Care Unit
The Acute Care Surgeon will have an opportunity to rotate to all three locations, with a focus at Akron General Hospital.
Akron General Hospital is Cleveland Clinics Southern Region flagship hospital in Akron Ohio. Akron General is a tertiary teaching hospital with 532 beds and is a level 1 trauma center. Since formally joining the Cleveland
Cleveland Clinic in 2015, Akron General continues to grow rapidly and is a leader in its market. In 2016 it performed over 1,500 trauma activations. Construction is underway to build a completely new $49 million emergency department. The Acute Care Surgeons at Akron provide trauma, ICU, and emergency general surgery services.
The successful candidate will be fellowship trained in surgical critical care and board certified/eligible. An interest in an elective general surgery practice is welcome. An active research interest in general surgery and trauma is also encouraged and will be supported. Both office and nursing support will be provided to facilitate the physicians practice. In addition, we are committed to the teaching of residents and students in patient care and research. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience will be with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
