Mercy Care has an exciting full time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Optometrist to join an exceptional team providing care for the underserved population in Atlanta, Georgia.
Under the Direction of the Medical Director, the Optometrist performs ocular examinations on patients of all ages for the purpose of the detection of diseases of the eye and defects in vision. In instances of patients with significant ophthalmic pathology, management decisions should be made through consultation with the appropriate provider; otherwise the optometrist will formulate the final appropriate treatment decision.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate from an accredited College of Optometry, with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Current Georgia State Board of Optometry license and certification. Preference will be shown to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and who possess familiarity and experience in treating medically underserved and immigrant populations, including dealing with patients of diverse backgrounds including the homeless.
The schedule for this opportunity is full time, 32 to 40 hours weekly.
Saint Joseph's Mercy Care offers primary care, social services and education to homeless persons, the uninsured and the growing immigrant population, particularly Spanish-speaking and Vietnamese immigrants. Care is provided through numerous sites in metro Atlanta area.
In addition to the mobile clinics, three clinics operate five days a week, one in Downtown, one in the Northeast Plaza on Buford Highway, and one on Joseph E. Boone and Gateway location. These clinics provide a full array of medical services for low-income individuals and families.
