The Department of Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) is recruiting for a clinician Educator to join a dynamic and collaborative group of physicians in the Section of General Internal Medicine.  VAPORHCS is the number one growing level 1A tertiary VA Hospital in the Nation.   VAPORHCS consists of the main tertiary care medical center overlooking the city of Portland, the Vancouver Campus in Vancouver, WA, and nine outpatient clinics across Central and Northwest Oregon.

A clinician-educator in the Section of General Internal Medicine should be board certified or eligible in General Internal Medicine.  Teaching is an integral component of the activities of a general internist at the Portland VA Health Care System. Post residency training or experience as a clinician-educator (general medicine fellowship, chief residency, master's or PH.D./Ed. D degree, or considerable experience as an educator and clinician). The clinician -educator will have an outpatient primary care practice including indirect patient care responsibilities with support of a primary care medical home team(PACT), and precept medical residents in their primary care clinics. Some inpatient ward attending while supervising residents is expected.Teaching at the bedside, clinic and in didactic sessions with learners at all levels is expected. There are abundant opportunities to teach and work collaboratively with a teamVAPORHCS has a close relationship with our academic affiliate, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), to which it is physically connected by a sky bridge.  The clinician-educator will have an academic appointment at OHSU commiserate with his/her experience. It is preferred that the candidate have some experience in quality and safety activities, related to their sphere of work.
