Lourdes Medical Associates (LMA) has an excellent full time employment opportunity for a Fellowship trained, Board Certified or Board Eligible Transplant Hepatology physician to join a growing practice with locations at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center (OLLMC) and an outpatient clinic in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
This practice will be growing by one and could soon be adding a second Hepatologist due to the increasing demand for services. The demand for services is going to increase rapidly as Lourdes is merging with a local health system. This system will be adding a referral network of 400 physicians and their patient panels. Currently, Lourdes has the only Transplant Hepatology surgery service in Southern New Jersey and is one of the only two Transplant Hepatology services in the State. The practice currently has 4500 patients. Outpatient volume is typically 20 per day, with a high volume of 25. The anticipated schedule for this opportunity is two weeks in the office, followed by one week in the hospital seeing 15 to 18 patients per day, rounding and taking phone call. They will help with some procedures and general Gastroenterology within the hospital, although this is not required. There is also a 1:4 call on the weekends.
Hepatology service is the gateway to transplant surgery. The service conducts approximately 25 transplants annually and typically have 50 patients on the waiting list and another 25 in the evaluation system. The Hepatologists also manage the patients with Hepatitis A, B, and C. The transplant team is very polished and consists of Hepatologists, surgeons, Psychiatrists, a transplant coordinator, social workers, a pharmacy and a financial coordinator. They work as a team to evaluate each patient and agree upon patients who are eligible for the transplant list.
The Transplant Hepatologists work out of two offices, one at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and one at Cherry Hill, seeing patients at two to four week intervals depending upon the condition of the patient. The three transplant surgeons manage their post-surgical Hepatology patients for six months before transferring them back to the Hepatology team. The patient is managed for internal medicine issues and immune suppressants.
The ideal candidate will be UNOS certified with the minimum of 35 transplants and 5 harvests; however, the team will consider experienced candidates and candidates who recently completed their training.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Transplant Hepatology physician to join a multispecialty network of physicians.
An excellent compensation and benefits package is available for the right candidate. This includes:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Health, Dental, Life, Disability and Malpractice Insurance
- 401(k) matching
- Paid time off (including sick, vacation and holidays)
- CME stipend and paid time off
