The Providence VA Medical Center is seeking outstanding Board Certified/Board Eligible primary care providers for permanent full time positions and one half-time position at three locations – Providence and Middletown, RI and New Bedford, MA.
We welcome applicants with training in either Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. These opportunities exist in outpatient primary care with support of onsite integrated mental health providers, nutritionist, social services, pharmacy, and a variety of subspecialists by clinical video teleconferencing. Clinic hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm and you will have no call
Salary Range: Up to $225,000 per year Salary is commensurate with training and experience
Responsibilities will include:
Seeing 8 – 10 patients per day, having one hour for new patients and 30 minutes for returning patients. Providing appropriate care for Veterans ranging in age from 18 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnosis and physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs. Conducting comprehensive health assessments; determining diagnoses and health care needs; and constructing health care plans based on effective therapeutic ability, consultation, patient education and established practice guidelines.
Coordinating patient care through patient management techniques within the assigned Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and implementing the same functionality in PACTs. Maintaining effectiveness in recognizing emergency/acute situations and intervening in an appropriate and effective manner. Documenting patients' health care clearly, adequately and accurately as defined by medical records documentation, chronic disease and prevention indicators. Signing notes in a timely manner as dictated by Medial Center by-laws or the Primary Care Service Chief.
Assisting in performance improvement in Primary Care through chart review, data review, and process assessment and evaluation. Conducting or participating in clinical investigations to improve patient care. Coordinating and/or participating in special projects related to primary care activities. Participating in Medical Center committees and administrative assignments.

Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
Education: Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
