Practice Information:

Intermountain Healthcare is seeking a BC/BE General Surgeon to provide call coverage at Riverton Hospital and in the Wasatch Back at Heber Valley and Park City Hospitals. The schedule will be one week of 24/7 call coverage at Riverton per month and one week of call coverage per month for Park City/Heber (call coverage at both hospitals during that week). Average volumes for on call cases: Riverton 1-2 cases per 24 hr period, Wasatch Back 0-1 case per 24/hr period. Estimated FTE = 0.6 Employment position with the Intermountain Medical Group.


Board Certified/ Board Eligible in General Surgery Unrestricted Utah MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license U.S. ACGME Residency

Community Information:

Riverton is located 20 miles southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. It is a quiet community with striking views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains. Once a rural farming community ?? Riverton has now flourished into one of the most rapidly growing communities in Salt Lake County. Population is ~ 44,000. Riverton is within an hour's drive of nine world-renowned ski resorts and within a day's drive of five national parks. Along with these recreational attractions, there are many cultural and sporting events within a short distance. There are performances by the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and Pioneer Theater Company as well as a renovated theater that offers Broadway plays. The NBA's Jazz, ECHL Utah Grizzlies hockey, the Salt Lake Bees, a triple-A baseball team, and Real Salt Lake City, a major league soccer team, all represent Salt Lake City. Three universities are within a 1-hour drive.

Heber Valley is nestled in Utah's Wasatch Mountains only 45-minute drive from Salt Lake City and adjacent to Park City. It was a venue for both cross-country skiing and biathlon during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. It continues to offer convenient access to world class resorts. It also features five championship golf courses and blue-ribbon fly-fishing. Year-round activities include snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, camping, boating, hot air ballooning, water sports, scuba diving, and more. In addition, unique area attractions include the historic, steam-driven Heber Valley Railroad, beautiful Cascade Springs and other scenic drives, three reservoirs, four ski resorts and three national forests/state parks within 45-50 minute drive. Heber Valley Hospital is a 19-bed facility, housing three operating rooms, one procedure room, nine surgical recovery rooms, seven ER treatment rooms, and 170 employees. It offers an Urgent Care clinic, full service emergency department, 24/7 lab, dexa-scanner, digital mammography, and physical therapy.

Park City, elevation 7,000 feet, is located in the mountains east of Salt Lake City in Summit County, population 8,754. The Park City area currently has three world class resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and The Canyons Resort. It, too, was a venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics and continues to host the Sundance Film Festival, the Park City Music Festival, the Park City Jazz Festival, and Utah Symphony & Opera's Deer Valley Music Festival.
