Cleveland Clinic announces a search for an Associate Medical Director of Enterprise Occupational Health to provide direct Occupational Health clinical and consultation services for internal caregivers and external clients, assuring quality and safety of care, cost efficiency, and the best patient experience possible. Serves as backup to the Medical Director, Occupational Health, as needed. Participates in annual business planning and ongoing client relations.

Details of service lines:

  1. Cleveland Clinic AtWork services include:
  • Near site clinics (scheduled appointments and walk-ins)  
  • Onsite clinics
  • Hospital-based clinics
  • Main focus is on Workers Compensation injury care, specialty physicals (e.g., D.O.T.) and medical surveillance.
  • Review and consultation of positive drug tests, as requested.

(Clients include construction companies, hospital vendors, banks, manufacturers, and educational organizations, etc.)

  1. Occupational Health Services include (generally provided by RNs and APRN staff, whether in person or virtually, but may require medical oversight):
  • Pre-placement health assessments
  • Annual health assessments (when indicated)
  • Return-to-work clearance evaluations
  • Fitness for Duty evaluations
  • Drug testing
  • Tuberculosis screening

Clinical care services include providing direct, regular and consistent clinical care; serving as a resource and providing quality oversight/chart reviews to RNs, APRNs, PAs, workers compensation managers, drug testing coordinators, and others; providing or overseeing specialized evaluations, including Fitness for Duty, D.O.T and medical surveillance exams, etc.; and may involve very occasional after hours calls to assist with unusual situations (e.g., exposures, impaired caregivers, etc.). 

Administrative services include partnering with other department leaders to help develop and monitor business plans; directly working with company contacts as needed, including occupational health consulting and advisories; review of appeals (e.g., vaccine exemptions and drug test results); and ensuring patient and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Must be board-certified: e.g., Primary Care specialty or Emergency Medicine; preference given to board-certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
  • At least 3 years of post-residency experience in the practice of Occupational Health and leadership over clinical teams.
  • Certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) can be an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in federal and state regulations relating to Medical Center Occupational Health

Cleveland Clinic physician appointments are for one year and are renewed annually contingent on adequate performance. Your salary and performance will be reviewed on an annual basis. Salary revisions are contingent on your performance.
