About Us:
A Community Living Center (CLC) is a VA Nursing Home. Veterans may stay for a short time or, in rare instances, for the rest of their life. It is a place where Veterans can receive nursing home level of care, which includes help with activities of daily living and skilled nursing and medical care.
Our Community Living Center is dedicated to providing high-quality care to veterans in a supportive and compassionate environment. With a focus on promoting holistic well-being and enhancing quality of life, our team is committed to delivering personalized care that meets the unique needs of each resident.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine decision-making capacity and provide recommendations for care planning.
- Provide individual and group counseling to residents, addressing a variety of psychological and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement tailored care plans for residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
- Offer education and support to staff members and family members on effective communication strategies, behavioral management techniques, and coping mechanisms.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care planning meetings to ensure coordinated and integrated care delivery.
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of residents.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and active license as a psychologist in any U.S. State or Territory
- Experience working with older adults, particularly those with dementia or cognitive impairments, preferred.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to evaluate decision-making capacity and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Proficiency in individual and group counseling techniques, with a focus on evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and support staff.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of geropsychology and long-term care.
