The Memphis, Tennessee Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) has an opening for a Board-Eligible/Certified Endocrinology Physician, specializing in Diabetic Medicine. The position comes with a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee. Clinical activities may include, clinical assessment and evaluation, healthcare management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses; ordering and interpreting laboratory, diagnostic studies, consultations, referrals, patient follow-up, health promotion, disease prevention, clinical research, and patient/family/staff education and counseling. Position requirements include, but not limited to:

• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism
• Meet requirements for academic appointment at affiliate, University of TN Health Science Center.
• Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Endocrinology/Diabetic Medicine.
• Age-specific care, including knowledge of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups: ability to assess and interpret data about the patients status; and ability to identify age-specific needs and provide the appropriate care based upon the age-related factors noted.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
