The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for a Level II Non-invasive Pain Management Physician. The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). The Medical Center is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 enrolled Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of medicine, general cardiovascular, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, Womens Health, and Dentistry.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • The physician is accountable for the professional delivery and thorough documentation of treatment
  • Additionally, the physician upholds a climate within the Pain Clinic that promotes optimum patient care.
  • The physician reports to the Chief, Anesthesiology Section or his designee and serves as a key clinical resource for the Anesthesiology Section and Surgical Service.
  • Provide direct patient care in outpatient setting.
  • Observe patient responses, testing procedures, use of equipment and review of patient records.
  • Consistently monitor and report on outcomes in pain management.
  • Provide education to other physicians and healthcare professionals regarding pain management.
  • Provide education, supervision, and mentoring to medical students, residents, and fellows in pain management
  • To facilitate research development in pain management

Requirements:

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pain Management
  • Experience/training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Preferred
  • Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
  • US Citizenship: Non-citizens may be considered when its not possible to recruit qualified citizens
  • Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
