The Memphis, Tennessee Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) has an opening for a Board-Certified Infectious Disease Physician. Clinical activities may include, clinical assessment and evaluation, healthcare management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses; ordering and interpreting laboratory, diagnostic studies, consultations, referrals, patient follow-up, health promotion, disease prevention, clinical research, and patient/family/staff education and counseling. Position requirements include, but not limited to:

 

  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Meet requirements for academic appointment at affiliate, University of TN Health Science Center.
  • Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine
  • Possess the skillset to teach/train residents in Antibiotic Stewardship
  • Participate in appropriate subspecialty committees: Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP).
  • Provide consultation on various forms of infectious diseases, both diagnosis and treatment for inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Assist with outpatient telehealth clinic with VVC appointments and face-to-face.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language.
  • US Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.

 

Position Highlights:

 Pay: $240,000 - $280,000

Pay Incentives: Annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $2,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with occasional call
