Broad-based research plays a critical role in the care of our veterans through scientific investigations relevant to the diagnosis, delivery of care, clinical practice, and treatment of diseases affecting veterans. The Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System is one of the most extensive research programs within the veteran healthcare system.
Although interest in other malignancies is welcomed, this research position is lung cancer-focused. This unique opportunity will work closely with UCLA residents and fellows and is supported by existing budgetary and clinical trials staff of regulatory and clinical coordinators. This key provider will interact with a multidisciplinary group, including radiation oncology, thoracic surgery, pathology, pulmonary medicine, diagnostic and interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine. In addition, it will have protected research time of no less than 50% based on productivity. Other clinical activities include attending in outpatient clinics and consulting on inpatient hematology-oncology services. The clinics and consulting services are supported by multiple hematology-oncology fellows and internal medicine staff from the VA Greater Los Angeles combined training programs and its academic affiliate, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
