The VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) is seeking a Hematopathologist/ Surgical Pathologist as a staff physician at the Jennifer Moreno Medical Center in La Jolla, CA.
The Hematopathologist/ Surgical Pathologist will perform the following services:
- Clinical responsibilities include hematopathology and general surgical pathology sign-out, flow cytometry, frozen section interpretation, fine needle aspiration rapid onsite evaluation and autopsy.
- Provides administrative oversight for flow cytometry and hematology labs
- Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and hospital committees
- Provide clinical laboratory consultation to technical personnel and healthcare providers.
- Participation in Quality Assurance measures for laboratory sections as required by accreditation standards.
- Teaching of residents, medical students, allopathic medicine students and other healthcare personnel who seek training within the field of Pathology.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Unrestricted U.S. Medical License
- Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
- Subspeciality board certification in Hematopathology
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience in hospital practice setting
- Strong general surgical pathology and hematopathology diagnostic skills
- Administrative experience
- Transfusion medicine experience
- Additional subspecialty training including Gastrointestinal pathology, Genitourinary pathology and Dermatopathology is a plus
Work Schedule: M-F 0800-1630 on site
Call Schedule: 1 24-hour call per week. 1 Weekend call every 6 weeks.

- $235,000- $285,000 compensation package based on training, experience, and local labor market
