The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for a Section Chief of Radiation-Oncology with an academic affiliation with the University of Tennessee. The position reports directly to the Service Chief and is responsible for the administration, management, and leadership of the entire Radiation-Oncology Department.

The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). Its a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 enrolled Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of medicine, general cardiovascular, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, Womens Health, and Dentistry.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Patient care in areas of head/neck, and lung cancer
  • Oversee clinical and administrative performance measures, strategic planning, budget, and resource management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, facility employees, and leadership
  • Assures radiation oncology program is compliant with Federal and State laws
  • Supports liaison with affiliated schools regarding medical teaching issues and provider appointments

Requirements:

  • Board Certified in Radiation Oncology
  • Five plus years of leadership experience preferred
  • Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
  • US Citizenship: Non-citizens may be considered when its not possible to recruit qualified citizens
  • Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
