The Division of Cardiology & Cardiovascular Medicine within the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Center at Cleveland Clinic Childrens is seeking two pediatric cardiac hospitalist physicians to join our existing group of pediatric cardiologists and 14 advanced practice providers caring for pediatric cardiac Step-Down patients within our Pediatric Cardiac Care Unit. The position will have a primary appointment in the Division of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Heart, Vascular & Thoracic in the Childrens Institute. The successful candidate will be board certified/ board eligible in pediatric cardiology and have a strong background in the care of medically complex patients in the acute care setting. Clinical activities of the position include direct patient care responsibilities and supervision of fellows and advanced practice providers. The 33-bed Cardiac Care Unit, which includes 15 Pediatric Cardiac ICU beds and 18 Cardiac Intermediate Care and Step-down beds, cares for 750 admissions annually. The Cardiac Step-down Service provides high quality, equitable, culturally responsive, family-centered care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease across the full spectrum of disease complexity. The Cardiac Step-down service cares for both cardiac medical and surgical patients, the latter in collaboration with the pediatric cardiac surgery service. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to provide care to newborns in our NICUs and Special Care Nurseries at Cleveland Clinic Childrens and our regional hospitals and medically complex patients with congenital heart disease in the outpatient setting.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, an interest in teaching and research is desirable with multiple opportunities for both. We have an active fellowship program with 15 trainees. Research is supported by the Cardiovascular Innovation Center for Pediatric and Adult Congenital Research, which has more than 30 research professionals supporting clinical and translational research in our Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Center. Significant opportunities to engage in work related to Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement also exist for the cardiac hospitalist. Cleveland Clinic Childrens actively contributes data to and participates in quality improvement initiatives through the PC4 and PAC3 registries and Cardiac Networks United.
