The VA Tampa Healthcare System is actively recruiting a Board Certified or Board Eligible physician in Critical Care and/or Pulmonary Care to help care for our Veterans – America’s Heroes. A PCCSM physician candidate with a Sleep Board certification is preferred for this position.
Practice Highlights:
- Management of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine patients in the outpatient, inpatient consult, and telehealth setting
- Work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of experts in providing comprehensive care.
- Basic and translational research in pulmonology, critical care, and sleep medicine
- State-of-the-art bronchoscopy advanced diagnostic and interventional procedures, including diagnostic and titration DISE studies.
The Pulmonary, Critical care, and Sleep Medicine team at the James A. Haley VA hospital include multiple Board-Certified physicians to cover all areas of the subspecialty. Tampa VA PCCSM physicians actively participate in the education of USF Pulmonary and Critical care, and Sleep Medicine in-training fellows, and Internal Medicine residents. Registered Respiratory therapists under the PCCSM section, covers all settings from the MICU, outpatient procedures, sleep studies, and home respiratory care program and works together with our physician in providing the best care anywhere. Case manager registered nurses facilitate the care of outpatient clinic veterans, and APP provide additional coverage and our very successful Lung Cancer Screening program. Recently inaugurated a new bed tower with brand new intensive care unit patient rooms further facilitates best outcomes for our veterans. Duties and responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
- Pulmonary procedures bronchoscopy/EBUS, Pulmonary diagnostics PFTs, CPET, critical care cover Medical ICU.
- Provide timely pulmonary, critical care and sleep medical care to new and established Veterans in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Interpretation of pulmonary function tests and both portable and in-lab sleep studies.
- Provides adequate clinic access in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary including complex sleep medicine care.
- Engage in multidisciplinary care of the growing number of Veterans with pulmonary and sleep related disease following military toxic exposures. Assessing chemical/inhalation exposures including asthma, RADS, ARDS and chemical pneumonitis.
- Engage in multidisciplinary care of the growing number of Veterans who are recognized through lung cancer screening programs to be at risk for lung cancer and facilitate early diagnosis and treatment.
- Address the increased number of diagnostic bronchoscopies because of a robust lung cancer screening program as well as acquisition of the Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy system which allows for sampling of more distal lesions. This will allow for early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in our Veterans.
- Serve as teaching faculty for USF Internal Medicine, USF Pulmonary Critical Care and USF Sleep Medicine.
