The Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease Institute and Neurological Institute announce a search for a health psychologist with an interest in a new model of care: Advanced Endoscopy Medical Home. Cleveland Clinic is a World Class academic medical center and our Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition is a national leader in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. Our Advanced Endoscopy Medical Home model of care provides an integrated patient-centered population health approach to management and treatment of Interventional Endoscopy patients, including patients undergoing diagnosis and treatment for esophageal and gastric cancer and esophageal disorders with a team including gastroenterologists, nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, and a dietitian. Some clinical duties include: providing evaluations for behavioral health needs, individual and group-based interventions for patients with chronic gastroenterological and esophageal conditions, pain management, pre/post endoscopic procedures evaluation and care, and management of esophageal/endoscopic surgery needs for patients diagnosed with esophageal and gastric cancers. New graduates and those with prior experience or exposure to health psychology, primary care, gastroenterology, oncology care are welcome to apply. Interest and passion for the field of gastroenterology or oncology are preferred. Our department offers a rich multidisciplinary collaborative environment for research. Educational offerings may include the teaching of students, trainees and post-doctoral fellows in health psychology and other disciplines in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM; a branch of Case Western Reserve University). The successful applicant will be appointed to the CCLCM at a level commensurate with experience.
Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree from an APA- or CPA-accredited psychology program, completed an internship with experience in health psychology and have completed a postdoctoral fellowship with specialization. Eligibility for licensure in Ohio is essential. Strong candidates will possess expertise in the provision of evidence-based treatments (such as CBT, MI, ACT, and biofeedback) for health-related depression, anxiety, and pain, as well as experience working with patients diagnosed with a chronic medical condition. Strong candidates should also have interest and experience supervising trainees in health psychology. Opportunities for research, publications, and presentations are supported within the department.
