The Emergency Department Physician will collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and additional healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The physician will possess strong clinical skills, excellent decision-making abilities, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED), including assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients across all age groups with a wide range of medical conditions.
- Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans, including prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and performing necessary procedures.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, imaging studies, and EKGs.
- Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients in emergency situations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care and treatment plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental goals for patient safety, efficiency, and satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements within the electronic medical record system.
- Provide patient education and discharge planning, including follow up care instructions and referrals to specialists as necessary.
- Participate in ongoing HIPAA training and compliance activities as required by the organization.
- Understand and strictly follow all medical staff services policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient and effective operations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department or urgent care setting
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Active and non-restricted medical license in Kansas
- Active and non-restricted DEA
- Current ACLS, BLS, and ATLS certifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
