Duties
Describe the nature, purpose and location of the work:
The I.R. physician has the responsibility for providing interventional radiology services at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. IR physician is responsible for procedural approval, planning, coordination, performance, documentation and follow up care for procedures performed within interventional radiology. IR physician will provide consultation to referring physicians and support multidisciplinary conferences. IR physician is responsible for safety and supervision of veteran safety and imaging staff within the procedural service. IR physician will also support diagnostic imaging in interpretation and dictation of general radiology exams. The IR physician will be in compliance with all Radiation Safety and departmental policies and procedures.
The IR physician is supervised by the Chief of Imaging service.
Performs Interventional Radiology procedures, such as CT and U/S guided biopsied, pulmonary angiography, angioplasty and angiographic stenting: paracentesis, thoracentesis, biliary procedure including percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage, percutaneous biliary stent insertion (and stone extraction through T-tube tracts), percutaneous nephrostomy and ureteral stent insertion; gastrostomy gastrojejunostomy and balloon dilation of enteric strictures, etc.; Chemoembolization, TIPS procedures, RF ablations, various tube and drain placements.
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm or as determined by the service.
