TITLE:            Site Director, Breast Surgical Services
                      Trinitas Regional Medical Center (TRMC), Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC),

REPORT TO:   Chief of Surgery, TRMC, NBIMC
                      Chief of Breast Surgery, RWJBH (via Regional Director if present)
                      CEO of Combined Medical Group or Designee

The Site Director for Breast Surgical Services at TRMC and NBIMC will be responsible for developing and coordinating all the ancillary and clinical services and resources required for providing compassionate, timely, and quality evaluation and treatment of patients with breast diseases. The Site Director will maintain good working relationships with others to promote a professional environment that serves the best interests of the patient.  Four (4) non-clinical hours per week.

Physician's responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and coordinate the clinical services necessary for the evaluation and treatment of patients with breast diseases at TRMC, NBIMC.
  • Participate in breast health programs with other RWJBarnabas Health facilities and provide input for the development of a comprehensive breast center.
  • Collaborate with Breast Center leadership (Medical and Administrative) in determining and monitoring for quality and appropriateness of care indicators including those guidelines recommended by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
  • Participate and provide leadership for RWJBH Breast Tumor Board and promote a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Collaborate with Breast Center leadership with the development of Breast Cancer Survivorship events and programmatic goals.
  • Assist with developing pathways and breast practice standards for breast care at TRMC and NBIMC.
    • To include guidelines for breast care evaluation and management based on recognized standards.
    • To develop and provide oversight for quality standards and monitor outcomes
  • Participate in education program(s) at RWJBarnabas Health facilities.
  • Support clinical trial accrual for breast cancer patients.
  • Advance preparedness for NAPBC accreditation, review guidelines, collect and collate data for application
  • Work closely with other specialties and Departments in order to promote the growth of the Breast Oncology Program.
  • Maintain awareness of patient satisfaction results and improve areas as needed; participate in quality improvement studies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality initiative projects related to breast health.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative services and treatment for patients and coordinate with other specialists and   primary care physicians to assure timely patient evaluation. 
  • Provide direct diagnosis, surgical evaluation and management, follow up office visits, and other required treatment to Breast Center patients.
  • Participate in the education of patients, parents and caregivers.
  • Comply with treatment and follow-up protocols and clinical pathways developed for Breast Center patients.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a professional clinical environment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and maintenance of medical records.
  • Fulfill all continuing medical education requirements and provide confirmation of same to Director of Operations of Barnabas Health Medical Group (BHMG).
  • Treat patients consistent with any rules and regulations required by the Employer related to the general treatment of patients.
  • Conduct professional activities in accordance and compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use and operation of all equipment pertinent to position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • The Physician shall respond in a timely manner, as defined by the Medical Staff Bylaws, to all requests for consultations: a satisfactory consultation shall include an examination of the patient and the hospital record and the preparation of a written opinion of the findings and recommendations within 24 hours of a request for consultation, which shall be made part of the hospital record.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in resident teaching program.
  • Participate in the periodic review and development of the resident training programs, as requested.
  • Actively participate in the clinical and didactic teaching of residents.
  • Participate in the lecture in Grand Rounds.
  • Provide education/outreach sessions for the community.
  • Participate in the Graduate Medical Education Program of the Department of Surgery and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology under the direction and supervision, and to the extent requested by the Chair.

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $450,000 to $650,000 per year.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidates educational background, skills, and professional experience.
