Heywood Healthcare is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine physicians to join our Emergency Medicine teams at Heywood Hospital and Athol Hospital. These roles offer the opportunity to practice high-quality emergency medicine in supportive, community-based hospitals with a strong focus on sustainable schedules and work/life balance.

Heywood Hospital - Gardner, MA
Full-service community hospital
Busy Emergency Department with a broad case mix
Strong specialty and APP support
Meditech Expanse EMR
Athol Hospital - Athol, MA
Smaller community hospital with a lower-acuity ED
Efficient, community-focused practice environment
Strong nursing and APP support
Meditech Expanse EMR
Physicians may work exclusively at one site or split time between both, based on interest and departmental needs.
Shift Details & Scheduling
12-hour shifts
Mix of day, evening, and overnight shifts
Full-time requirement: approximately 12 shifts per month
Flexible scheduling with advance planning
Equitable distribution of nights, weekends, and holidays
Opportunities for additional shifts if desired

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages
Perform procedures consistent with training and experience
Collaborate closely with APPs, nursing staff, consultants, and ancillary teams
Document care accurately and efficiently in Expanse
Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
Eligible for Massachusetts medical licensure
Strong clinical judgment and team-based approach
