Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive patient care in the form of consultative inpatient care.
- Manage patients with ongoing medical conditions both in the acute care and intensive care inpatient settings, in collaboration with other services of the LAJVAMC.
- Interview, examine, selects diagnostic testing appropriately, and interprets/collates results to coordinate patient care at all points in the process from admission to discharge.
- Communicates and documents with clarity to patients and medical personnel to coordinate patient care.
- Work in conjunction with mid-level providers.
- Procedural skills may include EKG interpretation, TPA administration, and simple vent management.
- Consultative input to other service lines in inpatient care.
- Participate in Committee Structure.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization
- Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
- Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rule and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
- Refer patients to subspecialists or other professionals as appropriate.
- Patient discharge summaries to be signed within 7 days.
- Other duties as the in-house medicine attending physician, which include but are not limited to addressing requests for transfer to Medicine Service from outside facilities and urgent/emergent general medicine consults
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7 days on/7 days off, 12 hour shifts from 7AM or 7PM. Shifts may include nights, days, weekends and holidays. Hours subject to change depending on the needs of the facility.
