This unique opportunity involves providing expert care in a Level 3 community NICU, caring for up to 14 neonatal patients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized neonatal care in a Level 3 NICU setting.
  • Cover up to 14 patients, with a commitment of 1 week per month.
  • Work 24-hour shifts, ensuring continuous patient management.
  • Manage a team with 24-hour Nurse Practitioner coverage at the hospital.
  • Supervise Nurse Practitioners, fostering a collaborative care environment.
  • Participate in call coverage, including an additional fee for return visits after initial 8 hours of patient contact.
  • Operate within a multidisciplinary team to optimize neonatal outcomes.

Required Skills:
  • MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Valid medical license in the applicable state.
  • Proven experience in neonatal intensive care.
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts and handle high-acuity cases.
  • Strong supervisory and team communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NICU protocols and neonatal emergencies.
  • Competence in managing multiple patients and complex cases.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in community NICU environments.
  • Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of neonatal development and parental support strategies.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of neonatal ICU experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership roles are advantageous.

Other Requirements:
  • Supervision of Nurse Practitioners at the hospital.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA certification.
  • Flexibility to work week-based schedules as needed.
  • Willingness to participate in occasional on-call duties.
  • Ability to adapt to hospital policies and protocols.
