Job Title: Locum to Perm Physician – Oncology

Practice Setting: Free-Standing Cancer Center

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician specializing in Medical Oncology to provide locum coverage with the potential for a permanent position. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering comprehensive cancer care in a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide outpatient and inpatient medical oncology services, managing a diverse adult and geriatric patient population.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards to formulate and review treatment plans.
• Prescribe and oversee chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments, collaborating closely with Nurse Oncologists and ancillary staff.
• Manage patients requiring bone marrow transplants and oversee related procedures.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies using the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
• Contribute to blood bank management and support complex cases involving hematologic malignancies.
• Provide inpatient care, including rounding and consultation, approximately 20 patients daily; see an average of 25 outpatient patients per day.
• Flexibility to assume call responsibilities once transitioned to a permanent role, typically scheduled every 6-8 weeks (no call during locum period).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility in Medical Oncology.
• Valid medical license to practice in South Carolina.
• Experience managing adult and geriatric oncology patients.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the EPIC EMR system.

Additional Details:

• Practice boasts a team of 7 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
• The practice includes a mix of benign hematology (65%) and malignant oncology (35%), with no internal medicine cases.
• Commitment to patient-centered care with a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days.
