Sentara Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient team in South Boston, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a provider who values a collaborative, patient-centered approach and wants to make a meaningful impact on individuals struggling with behavioral health challenges.

Position Details:

  • Location: South Boston, VA
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 35 40 patients per week
  • Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM | No on-call requirements

Patient Population:

  • Substance and alcohol use disorders, Depression and anxiety, Grief and loss, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, PMDD, Schizophrenia, etc.

Team Composition:

  • 2 Physicians
  • 1 Licensed Professional Counselor
  • 2 Support Staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outpatient behavioral health visits and follow-ups
  • Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate
  • Provide counseling and therapy when indicated
  • Collaborate closely with physicians on patient care
  • Monitor and track patient progress, ensuring individualized, effective treatment plans

Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health
  • Proven ability to provide both medication management and counseling
  • Experience in evaluating and determining the most effective treatment approach for patients, whether through medication, therapy, or a combination of both
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
