Join our team as a Locum Rheumatologist and make a meaningful difference in patient care in Jackson, MI. This critical role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert adult and geriatric rheumatology services in a dynamic clinical setting. You will work alongside dedicated support staff, including MAs, RNs, and front desk personnel, to deliver comprehensive care in a well-equipped practice environment. Your expertise will be vital in managing a diverse patient caseload, performing procedures such as joint aspirations and corticosteroid injections, and contributing to a level 2 trauma facility. This position offers flexibility with clinic shifts (4×10 or 5×8 hours) coupled with 24-hour hospital call coverage twice a month, providing a balanced and fulfilling work schedule.
Required Skills:
- Board certification in Rheumatology
- Fellowship training in Rheumatology
- Valid medical license to practice in Michigan
- Proven experience managing adult and geriatric rheumatology cases
- Proficiency in joint aspirations and injections
- Strong EMR skills, specifically with Epic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have Skills: - Additional certifications in musculoskeletal imaging or ultrasound
- Previous experience in Level 2 trauma settings
- Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations
Preferred Education and Experience: - MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Minimum of 3 years post-residency clinical experience in Rheumatology
- Prior locum or temporary practice experience is a plus
Other Requirements: - Availability to start as soon as credentialed, with an expected start date around April 2026
- Credentialing timeframe of 90-120 days
- Willingness to consider travel reimbursements for local or out-of-area providers
