St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking full-time Surgical Physician Assistants to join the General Surgery team at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to practice at a dynamic community hospital while working alongside talented surgeons and multidisciplinary colleagues in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Ellis Medicine provides a broad range of surgical services, and our advanced practice providers play a key role in delivering high-quality care across the surgical continuum. This role offers a strong mix of operative first-assist responsibilities, inpatient management, and consultative care.

Position Details

  • Full-time days/evenings positions
  • Provide first-assist services in General Surgery and specialty areas including ENT, Vascular, Gynecology, Bariatrics, Urology, and Plastics
  • Manage hospitalized surgical patients, including daily rounds and care coordination
  • Evaluate new consults and complete admission histories, physical exams, and orders for ER patients
  • Mix of operating room time and floor-based responsibilities
  • Extensive onboarding and orientation designed to set providers up for success
  • Schedule includes:
    • Primarily 8-hour daytime shifts (Monday–Friday)
    • One 16-hour day/evening shift weekly for 5 out of every 8-week rotation
    • Two 24-hour weekend shifts every 8 weeks
    • One 24-hour holiday shift per year
    • No night shifts
  • Rotating evenings and weekend

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS 

Applicants should have the following:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Previous experience in general surgery or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. 

RECRUITMENT PACKAGE:

St. Peter’s Health Partners offers a comprehensive salary and compensation package that includes:

  • $2,500 starting bonus paid in first payroll month
  • Competitive base salary range $135-276-$147,450 commensurate with experience
  • The posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses, incentives related to quality and performance, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. In addition, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits offered by their medical group employer. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.
