Physician - Cardiology

Join Our Team as a Locum Interventional Cardiologist - Petersburg, VA

Are you a dedicated interventional cardiologist seeking a rewarding temporary assignment? We are seeking a skilled Locum Physician to provide critical interventional cardiology services in a dynamic inpatient setting. In this role, you will perform complex procedures including heart catheterization, PCI, coronary angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, and more, primarily in an inpatient environment. The schedule offers a 24-hour shift, ideally starting at 8 am on Friday and concluding at 8 am on Monday, with 24-hour call responsibilities. You will work independently without other interventional cardiologists present, serving adult and geriatric patients using the EPIC electronic medical records system.

Required Skills:

• Board-certified or eligible in Interventional Cardiology
• Valid medical license for practice in Virginia
• Proven proficiency in advanced interventional procedures such as PCI, coronary angiograms, and carotid stenting
• Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in a hospital-based inpatient setting
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR system
• Previous locum or temporary practice experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Cardiology fellowship and Interventional Cardiology fellowship
• A minimum of 2 years post-fellowship clinical experience in interventional cardiology

Other Requirements:

• Must hold or be eligible for Virginia medical licensure
• Certification in BLS/ACLS
• Willingness to adhere to credentialing timeline (~120 days)
• Reimbursement for travel expenses such as hotel, rental car, mileage, and flights when applicable

This assignment offers an hourly pay rate of $19.50, complemented by competitive benefits including weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical coverage (W-2), referral bonuses, paid sick time, and reimbursements for eligible expenses.
