Join Our Team as a Locum NP/PA in Emergency Medicine – Mt Pleasant, MI

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide exceptional emergency care on a flexible, locum basis. In this position, you will independently manage a varied patient caseload during 10-hour shifts (11 AM – 9 PM), with an on-site supervising physician always available for consultation. You will be empowered to make clinical decisions while collaborating with a dedicated support team, including one full-time NP and two PRN PAs. The hospital manages approximately 20,000 annual ER visits, with 8% of ED patients being admitted and a steady flow of incoming trauma and urgent cases. Required Skills:
- Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Michigan
- Prior experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work autonomously with confidence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Cerner EHR system
- Basic advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification
Nice to Have Skills:
- Pediatric emergency care experience
- Advanced procedures or return visit management expertise
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish
- Experience working in a fast-paced hospital environment
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited NP or PA program
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency or urgent care experience
- Board certification in relevant specialty (preferred but not mandatory)
Other Requirements:
- Current immunization records including Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Flu, COVID, TB, and TDAP
- Successful credentialing within approximately 90 days
- Willingness to work scheduled shifts during days from 11 AM to 9 PM
- Ability to clock in/out via DocTime, adhering to reverse billing policies
- No travel or lodging arrangements through third-party services; provider responsible for compliance with travel and expense policies
