The Cleveland Clinics Epilepsy Center, part of the Neurological Institute, is seeking a highly qualified Epilepsy Neurologist (adult or pediatric) with specialized training and/or experience in genetics to lead the development of an Epilepsy Genetics Program. Ideal candidates should have expertise in gene therapy or epilepsy genetics and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology and Epilepsy. This position offers a clinician-scientist track, and a competitive startup research package is negotiable. Dedicated time will be provided to develop extramural funding for clinical, translational, or basic research in epilepsy genetics, supported by the Cleveland Clinic's established research administrative infrastructure. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to establish a multidisciplinary clinical program focused on the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy patients with genetic conditions, delivering highly specialized care in our new state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:

  • Develop a competitive translational research program aligned with the 2020 NINDS Epilepsy Benchmarks, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies and/or pioneering innovative approaches.
  • Leverage unique resources, including one of the largest single-center biorepositories of epilepsy biosamples (surgically removed brain tissue and blood).
  • Advance research in epilepsy genetics and its associated comorbidities, utilizing existing strengths in computational genomics, bioinformatics, clinical neurophysiology, brain mapping, neurocognitive studies, and epilepsy imaging.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams conducting research in genomics, molecular genetics of various epilepsy pathologies, and multidisciplinary epilepsy genetics clinics.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated track record in research and scholarly activities in epilepsy genetics is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care with a focus on discovery and innovation in epilepsy genetics.
