Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled General Surgeon to cover a variety of clinical and hospital duties at St. Anthony Hospital. This locum position involves performing essential surgical procedures, managing inpatient and outpatient cases, responding to traumas, and providing hospital call coverage. Starting from February 13, 2026, for approximately one year, you will have the chance to work within a committed medical team while maintaining a flexible schedule tailored to your availability.
Required Skills
- Board Certified or Eligible in Surgery
- Valid medical license and credentials in good standing
- Proven experience in general surgical procedures including cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomy, and skin excisions
- Ability to perform diagnostic colonoscopies and EGDs
- Strong clinical judgment with excellent patient management skills
- Competency in emergency trauma response and hospital-based procedures
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism
Nice to Have Skills - Experience with EMR systems including Meditech and eClinicalWorks (eCW)
- Prior work in rural or acute care settings
- Additional training in minimally invasive or advanced surgical techniques
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus
Preferred Education and Experience - MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years’ post-residency surgical practice
- Prior locum or temporary staffing experience preferred but not mandatory
Other Requirements - Willingness to work in both clinic and hospital settings
- Ability to respond promptly to traumas and emergencies
- Flexible scheduling, including on-call duties and holiday coverage
- Travel preferences: Candidates should fly into Pasco, WA, and rent a vehicle for the drive to Pendleton, OR
- Credentialing will be managed proactively, with temporary privileges granted immediately upon clearance
