Overview
This urgent locum position involves inpatient gastroenterology coverage at a busy hospital setting, including rounds, consultations, ERCP procedures, and emergency call shifts. The role requires covering a variety of GI cases, collaborating with a team of inpatient APPs, and delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. The position is ideal for physicians seeking to make a meaningful impact in inpatient care while maintaining flexibility in their schedule.

Required Skills

• Medical license and Board Certification in Gastroenterology
• Proven expertise in inpatient gastroenterology, including bread-and-butter procedures and ERCP
• Ability to perform ERCP with proficient skills
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
• Availability to cover scheduled dates and respond to call demands
• Ability to work independently within a hospital environment

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with the Epic EMR system
• Prior locum or hospital-based GI practice experience
• Familiarity with inpatient consultation workflows and ED call procedures

Preferred Education and Experience

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Minimum of 2 years postgraduate clinical experience in gastroenterology
• Prior experience performing ERCP procedures in a hospital setting
• Current state medical licensure and DEA registration in Kentucky

Other Requirements

• Clean malpractice and professional credentialing records for expedited privileges
• Ability to work the required scheduled shifts, including 14 days per month on a 7 on/7 off basis (specific dates provided)
• Willingness to adhere to hospital policies, including credentialing and billing protocols
• For travel, local lodging arrangements preferred; no flights required
