The Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Mountain Home, TN is seeking a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist to provide full-scope anesthesia services in a primarily inpatient surgical setting. This is a long-term opportunity with a broad and complex case mix, supported by a collaborative VA surgical team.

Assignment Overview
- Start: As soon as onboarding is complete (anticipated early August)
- Duration: 1 year with 6-month extension option
- Setting: Primarily inpatient surgical/operative care
Schedule & Call
- Operating Room Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Call Requirements
- Weeknight Call: 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM (Mon–Fri)
- Weekend Call: 24-hour coverage (Saturday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM)
- Holiday Call: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (next day)
- Response Expectations:
- Within 15 minutes by phone
- On-site within 30 minutes if needed
Practice Details
- Patient Volume: 4–6 patients per day (average)
- Patient Population: Adults only
Case Mix
Includes anesthesia services for a wide range of procedures:
- Cardiac surgery
- Orthopedic joint replacement
- Major vascular surgery
- Thoracic surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Plastic surgery
- ENT procedures
- Urology procedures
- Ophthalmologic procedures
- GI and radiologic procedures
- Cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology cases
Clinical Responsibilities
- Pre-operative evaluations
- Administration of anesthesia during procedures
- Post-anesthesia care and monitoring
- Emergency airway management
- Acute and chronic pain management
- Surgical ICU coverage
- Diagnostic and therapeutic anesthesia support
Support & Environment
- Full VA surgical team support including:
- OR nursing staff
- Surgical services department
- Multidisciplinary clinical teams
Requirements
- Board Certified – American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
- BLS & ACLS certifications required
- Any active U.S. state license accepted
Systems & Credentialing
- EMR: CPRS
- Credentialing Timeframe: ~8–10 weeks
