Position Description
The Beckley VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Cardiologist to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care to Veterans across inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and ICU settings. This position offers meaningful clinical impact, schedule stability, and the opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to serving southern West Virginias Veteran population.
The Cardiologist will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage cardiac conditions; interpret diagnostic tests; support inpatient teams; and collaborate closely with hospitalists, emergency physicians, and other specialists. This role does not require call, weekend, or holiday duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology consultations
- Assist with emergency cardiac care, including cardiac arrest response
- Manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions
- Conduct and interpret EKGs, echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and exercise stress tests
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including stress tests and cardiac imaging
- Prescribe medications and recommend interventions or procedures as clinically indicated
- Provide ED and ICU consultations for critically ill patients
- Provide daily progress notes and collaborate on discharge planning
- Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when needed
- Educate and supervise medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers
- Participate in cardiology peer review and quality improvement activities

Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency with board eligibility or certification in Cardiology
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- Federal DEA license
- Current BLS certification
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
