Exciting Opportunity: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Locum Physician

VHS is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians to join our team in a dynamic locum capacity. In this role, you will work 7-10 days per month, primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with weekend coverage involving 12-hour on-call shifts. Hospital call duties include 1.5 hours of patient contact, with minimal callbacks expected. You will be responsible for providing high-quality rehabilitative care, adhering to clinical protocols, and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. The position offers guaranteed hours with overtime pay after 10 hours per day, contingent upon prior approval.

Required Skills:

• Active California medical license and CA DEA registration
• Board certification or board eligibility within 3-5 years of residency
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong clinical assessment and rehabilitative skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced hospital environments

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience working in acute hospital settings
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Prior experience in a locum or temporary physician role
• Additional certifications pertinent to rehabilitation medicine

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• At least 2 years of recent hospital-based clinical activity in physical medicine and rehabilitation
• Case log information for surgical or complex cases upon request

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to travel as per assignment logistics (reimbursements applicable for hotel, rental cars, and certain transportation expenses)
• Successful completion of privileging process, typically within 90 days
• Explanation of any clinical gaps exceeding three months in professional history
