Join our dynamic team as a Surgery Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes in a state-of-the-art hospital setting. In this critical role, you will collaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons to provide exceptional perioperative care for adult and geriatric patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures. Your proficiency in advanced cardiac surgeries and familiarity with EVH procedures will be vital to our success, ensuring high standards of patient safety and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support surgeon during cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Manage 10-15 CVICU and step-down patients daily
- Provide post-operative care and assist with procedures such as temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and A-line placements
- Participate in 24-hour call rotations, including overnight on-call duties
- Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in cardiothoracic surgery, with proficiency in EVH
- Board Certified as a Physician Assistant (PA) licensed in Arizona
- Valid DEA license
- Proficient in advanced cardiac procedures and critical care management
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with IABP management
- Previous exposure to complex surgical cases
- Additional certifications in advanced cardiovascular care
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an NCCPA-accredited university program, or hold a Master's Degree in Nursing with RN/NP First Assistant certification
- Valid Arizona PA licensure or eligibility
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
Other Requirements:
- Ability to obtain credentialing within 30 days
- Flexibility to participate in call rotations
- Willingness to work 8-hour daily shifts with on-call responsibilities
