Join Our Team as a Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Neurology in Lima, OH

Are you a dedicated Physician Assistant with a passion for neurology seeking a flexible and impactful role? Mercy Health St. Ritas in Lima, Ohio, invites experienced and motivated PAs to fill a critical locum position beginning July 1, 2026. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to inpatient neurological care in a dynamic hospital setting, working alongside a talented team committed to excellence in patient outcomes.

In this role, you will provide vital coverage for adult inpatient neurology patients, including participation in code stroke response teams and radiologic exam interpretation. You will work a PRN schedule from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., managing an average of 10-15 hospital-based patients daily. The position offers a collaborative environment with onsite emergency labs and X-ray facilities, utilizing the Epic Carepath EMR system. A single physician is onsite at a time, with support from a team of APPs and group colleagues, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills:

  • Active Physician Assistant license in Ohio
  • Prior experience in neurology or inpatient neurologic care preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to interpret radiologic exams (training provided if needed)
  • Capable of responding effectively to stroke emergencies and other urgent neurological conditions

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Previous experience in hospital inpatient settings
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically Epic Carepath
  • Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Neurocritical Care training
  • Ability to perform or assist with radiologic exam interpretation

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, ideally in neurology or hospital-based care

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to work flexible hours within the scheduled coverage
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licensure, background clearance, and credentialing (estimated 60 days)
  • Travel reimbursements and certifications covered as applicable
