Job Title: Locum Nurse Practitioner – Critical Care

Required Skills:

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in Critical Care
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU/Critical Care experience
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, including assistance with respiratory therapists
  • Ability to perform procedures such as placing central venous lines, arterial lines, and dialysis catheters
  • Strong clinical judgment and autonomous practice skills
  • Experience working with adult patients in an inpatient setting
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically EPIC
  • Excellent communication skills for updating families and coordinating patient care

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Advanced life support certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS)
  • Experience working in a variety of hospital environments, including emergency departments and critical care units
  • Familiarity with hospital protocols for decompensating patients overnight
  • Ability to handle a fluctuating patient census efficiently

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • At least 2 years of critical care practice in a hospital setting
  • Prior locum or temporary staffing experience is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, with a minimum of one shift per month
  • Credentialing process estimated to take 2-4 weeks
  • Must have appropriate licensure, certifications, and working privileges for the state of Virginia
  • Travel and lodging reimbursements available as per policy, including flight, hotel, and rental vehicle within specified limits
