Are you a skilled Hand Surgeon seeking a rewarding temporary opportunity in a dynamic trauma center? UMH Sparrow Lansing Main Hospital is looking for a dedicated, Board Certified Hand Surgeon to provide essential 24-hour trauma call coverage in a busy Level One Trauma Center. As a key member of our trauma team, you'll support the hospital’s urgent needs, especially during peak trauma seasons, managing a variety of hand-related and plastic surgery procedures. Required Skills:

  • Board Certification in Hand Surgery or Plastic Surgery with a focus on hand procedures
  • Valid medical license to practice in Michigan
  • Proven experience in trauma call coverage
  • Strong procedural skills in hand reconstruction, laceration repair, skin grafts, and flaps
  • Ability to respond promptly and effectively to urgent cases
  • Excellent communication and patient management skills

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with traumatic hand reconstruction and general plastic surgery
  • Familiarity with Level One Trauma Center protocols
  • Prior locum or temporary practice experience
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3+ years of post-residency or fellowship experience in hand or trauma surgery
  • Prior experience in trauma call management or cross-disciplinary procedures

Other Requirements:
  • Availability to start as soon as possible through December 2026
  • Ability to commit to approximately 10 days per month of 24-hour trauma call coverage
  • Credentialing process may take 120+ days; candidates should be prepared for verification procedures
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight; site will reimburse travel, hotel, and mileage or rental car
  • Acceptance of rate caps and understanding of billing including malpractice, orientation, on-call, and callback fees
