Physician – Urgent Care (Martinez, CA)

Location: Martinez VA Medical Center, 150 Muir Rd, Martinez, CA 94553 (Community-Based Outpatient Clinic)
? Position Highlights
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday; Clinical hours approximate ~36 hours/week, flexible within urgent care framework
- Setting: On-site urgent care at Martinez VA CBOC—acute, non–life-threatening conditions only (after-hours emergencies are referred to 911)
? Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat Veterans presenting with minor injuries, acute illnesses, and non-critical conditions
- Order diagnostic tests (labs, imaging), perform point-of-care procedures, manage medications, and initiate referrals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary VA teams to ensure continuity of care and follow-up
- Adhere to VA clinical protocols, documentation standards, and veteran-centered care guidelines
? Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree: MD or DO from accredited institution
- Licensure: Full, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Training: Residency in Emergency, Family, or Internal Medicine with significant urgent care/emergency experience preferred
- Board Status: Board-certified or board-eligible
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required (exceptions when qualified citizens unavailable)
? Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $260,000 – $325,000 annually
- Leave: 50–55 days/year (26 annual + 13 sick + 11 federal holidays + CME days)
- Retirement: Federal pension (vests in 5 years) + Thrift Savings Plan with matching
- Insurance: Federal health, dental, vision, term life, long-term care
- CME Stipend: $1,000/year for full-time, board-certified providers
- Malpractice Protection: VA covers liability and tail coverage
- EDRP: Up to $200,000 in educational debt repayment over 1–5 years (eligibility required within 4 months of hire)
