Academic Faculty Appointment (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) West Virginia University School of Medicine - Department of Ophthalmology
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, is seeking a Oculoplastic Specialist for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, West Virginia, at the WVU Eye Institute
Duties
All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
The WVU Department of Ophthalmology includes 21 faculty members across 10 subspecialties: Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea, Glaucoma, Low Vision, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastics, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina, and Uveitis. Five faculty members are dedicated to basic science research.
The department offers the only accredited ophthalmology residency program in the state, currently training 10 residents with planned expansion to 12. Fellowship programs are available in glaucoma, retina, and oculoplastics.
Located on WVUs medical campus, the state-of-the-art WVU Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmology center in West Virginia. Last year, faculty provided care for more than 40,000 patient visits and performed 2,257 surgical procedures.

The nationally recognized WVU Vision Research Center plays a key role in advancing vision science through multidisciplinary collaborations. Current research funding includes four R01 grants and one R21 grant from the National Eye Institute (NEI). Clinical research programs are supported by NEI-funded trials focused on improving treatment and preventing blindness.
The department also maintains an active international glaucoma research program in St. Lucia, with additional global research initiatives in development.
