St. Joseph’s Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Wound Care team in Syracuse, NY. This is an inpatient opportunity based at St. Joseph’s Hospital working within a collaborative and dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a role model of professional nursing passionate about developing, maintaining, and improving competence in the wound, ostomy, and continence specialty.
Position Details:
- Provides expert consultative services for Providers, Nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding wound, ostomy, and continence management for individual patients.
- Recommends plan of care to promote healing, contain drainage, and promote skin integrity.
- Specializes in the care, clinical management, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with surgically created stomas.
- Consults with supply chain, pharmacy, and other disciplines related to the delivery of effective wound/ostomy/ continence care.
- Establishes a plan of care for referred patients through assessment, examination, pre- and post-operative teaching, and counseling.
- Determines and orders appropriate treatment based on established KPCO and WOCN Society's standards including topical products, compression therapy, sharp debridement, labs, and radiographic studies.
- Performs procedures as per scope of practice including vascular assessments using Doppler and all types of debridement including sharp wound debridement.
- Provides informal and formal education on wound and ostomy management to nursing staff and other healthcare professional, and participates as a member of the CWOC Team (teams meetings, case conferences, etc.)
- Actively participates in projects related to the care this patient population, promoting the use of evidence-based and cost-effective treatment protocols.
- Contributes to quality management activities including event reporting, focused studies, process and outcome measurement, and unit-based quality initiatives.

Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner certification; Current New York State and DEA license
- CWOCN, CWON, or COCN board certification or board eligibility required
- 1-2 years of ostomy experience and/or recent wound care experience required
- 1-2 years of experience in a hospital, homecare, long-term care, or ambulatory care setting preferred
- Strong clinical, communication, and patient education skills
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $118,000–$140,000 per year, with additional productivity bonus compensation incentives
- Salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses, quality incentives, or other forms of cash compensation. Final compensation may vary based on experience, training, and market factors in accordance with State law.
- Starting Bonus: $5,000
