AdventHealth Orthopedic Trauma Team in Littleton, CO is searching for a PA to join our hospital-based orthopedic team. This individual will provide post-operative care and general medicine management as well as manage our adult orthopedic population. The position will be both clinical AND function as a surgical assist to the orthopedic surgeon.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Transmits/prescribes prescription orders pursuant to written protocols as
  • Performs initial and on-going assessments and discharge planning
  • Utilizes skills of observation, inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation using diagnostic instruments or laboratory procedures
  • Documents patient care findings within established standards utilizing CPOE
  • Coordinates care by collaborating with surgeons and others to obtain appropriate services
  • Provides an accurate, thorough and timely report of patients' condition to surgeons and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Works collaboratively with Utilization Review and Care Management regarding patient's LOS and discharge planning.
  • Recognizes life-threatening situations and intervenes correctly with minimal supervision. May be a member of the Rapid Response team.
  • Reassesses patients regularly and revises interventions/plan of care as needed
  • Counsels' individuals, families and groups about health and illness and promote health maintenance.
  • Makes positive contributions to and supports the development and execution of policies/procedures/ standards/protocols.
  • Recognizes, develops and implements professional and community education programs related to health care as required.
  • May serve on various hospital committees and teams and serves as an internal resource for CMS, TJC and appropriate quality process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures that patient's medical record has appropriate documentation to meet all quality and patient experience indicators.
  •         Works with interdisciplinary teams to reduce unnecessary readmissions to the hospital.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • 2-3 years of general orthopedic experience NO NEW GRADS.
  • Master's degree and certification from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Colorado Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
  • Current Basic Life Support - CPR Cert
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding the delivery and billing of healthcare services
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
