The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our busy and collaborative Pediatric Gastroenterology team. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact in Pediatric GI care and help children thrive alongside a collaborative, expert Pediatric GI team.

Position Highlights:

  • 40 hours per week.  No weekends, nights, or holidays.
  • Primary site: Downtown Campus- 22 New Scotland Ave, Albany NY 12208
  • 8 half day sessions per week, 6 patients per half day session.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to pediatric patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management across inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
  • Perform detailed histories, physical examinations, and develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with pediatric gastroenterologists.
  • Manage a panel of patients with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, reflux disorders, feeding disorders, and functional GI disorders.
  • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and specialty testing.
  • Participate in procedural care as applicable (e.g., pre- and post-endoscopy management, sedation support depending on practice setting).
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with nursing, nutrition, social work, surgery, and other pediatric subspecialties to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and disease management strategies.
  • Support continuity of care through follow-up visits, care coordination, and transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with New York State regulations and institutional protocols.
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical pathways, and evidence-based practice advancement within the division.
  • Collaborate in teaching activities with medical students, residents, and fellows, as appropriate in an academic environment.
  • Participate in on-call coverage, weekend rotations, or extended hours as required by the department.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional policies, regulatory standards, and scope-of-practice guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification required
  • Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.
  • Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
  • Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality at all times

      3 years of experience: $122,861
      8 years of experience: $129,686
