The Bariatric and Metabolic Interdisciplinary Program (BMI) at Cleveland Clinic is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly motivated Obesity Medicine physician to serve as Medical Lead for the obesity medicine program.
This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for a mid-career obesity medicine physician who is passionate about advancing comprehensive obesity care, leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring clinicians, and helping shape the future of obesity treatment within one of the nations premier academic medical centers.
Position Overview
The Medical Lead will provide clinical and strategic leadership for the obesity medicine team within Cleveland Clinics BMI Program. The successful candidate will oversee and support medical obesity care, working closely with bariatric surgeons and a multidisciplinary team. This role includes leadership of a growing obesity medicine team of 18 providers, including 8 physicians and 10 advanced practice providers, across Cleveland Clinics enterprise-wide BMI program in Northeast Ohio.

With a history spanning more than two decades, the Cleveland Clinic BMI Program is one of the largest and most comprehensive programs of its kind. The BMI provides care for approximately 10,000 patients with obesity annually and performs more than 1,000 bariatric operations each year across several hospitals in Northeast Ohio.
With nearly 100 team members, the program brings together obesity medicine, bariatric surgery, psychology, nutrition, advanced practice providers, research, education, and clinical operations in a highly integrated model of care.
The BMI is also a leading center for bariatric and metabolic research, with multiple practice-changing studies published in high-impact journals including JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, and Nature Medicine. Interest in research and clinical trials is encouraged, and the successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in ongoing and future studies evaluating obesity treatments, metabolic surgery, incretin-based therapies, and long-term outcomes.
