Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible or equally experienced pediatric palliative medicine physician to fill an immediate opening on our growing inpatient consult service. Candidates well-suited for this position may also have an interest in palliative medicine integrated within oncology and cardiac teams.

At present, the pediatric palliative care team consists of four physicians, two full-time APRNs, an RN coordinator, and social worker / bereavement coordinator with access to plentiful Child Life Specialists, music therapists, chaplains, and psychology support services. Additionally, the complex care team is housed in our division and includes two full-time physicians, a full-time APRN, two respiratory therapists, and two complex care case managers.

Responsibilities will also include teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, with opportunities to contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation. The division is committed to supporting career development through mentorship, protected academic time, and institutional resources. Faculty members will have access to a wide range of clinical, educational, and research opportunities. Leadership positions may be available for candidates with demonstrated interest and experience in clinical program development, education, or research.

Clinical practice occurs at Oklahoma Children’s OU Health, the only comprehensive academic tertiary and quaternary health care facility dedicated to the care of children in the state of Oklahoma. The hospital is an independent, not-for-profit, 278-bed referral center with approximately 9,500 admissions per year and busy PICU, CVICU, and NICU floors. Deliveries occur onsite, and there are opportunities in program development for those with a specific interest in perinatal palliative care.
